The juice of the plant is used in the treatment of fevers. A paste made from the flower heads is applied to the skin in the treatment of scabies.

Habitat of the herb:

Wet places by paddy fields, central and southern Japan. Moist shady places at elevations of 700 - 2100 metres in Nepal.

Propagation of the herb:

Seed - we have no information on this species but suggest sowing the seed in a cold frame in spring and only just covering the seed. When they are large enough to handle, prick the seedlings out into individual pots and plant them out in the summer.
